Fire Prevention Week Open House

The Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department would like to invite you to our annual Open House at the Prices Fork Road Fire Station on Sunday, October 8th from 1-4 p.m.  LewisGale Hospital Montgomery will be providing light refreshments.  There will be many fun and educational activities for the children.  Sparky The Fire Dog and Smokey Bear will make guest appearances. 

This year our Fire Prevention Week theme is, "Every Second Counts – Plan 2 Ways Out”. In a fire, seconds count. Seconds can mean the difference between residents of our community escaping safely from a fire or having their lives end in tragedy.  Some prevention tips to protect you and your family- Draw a map of your home. Include all windows and doors. Find two ways out of every room. Make sure you can use all of  your ways out. Make sure your doors and windows are not blocked. Choose an outside meeting place in front of your home. Go over your plan with everyone in your home. Plan to assist anyone that needs help getting out. Test smoke alarms to be sure they are working.
